Protect And Tan At The Same Time

By Haywood Hunter

Sun bathing is done not only to enjoy the warmth but also to get that glow or tan. One can get mixed up choosing between sunscreen, sun block and sunblock tan products. It may also not be clear which SPF is needed in a sunblock tan or other product. The best tan enhancers and blockers are also not clearly understood. Furthermore, a sunblock tan and other products has several options within it.

An understanding of sun block products and sunblock tan products will help in making the right choices for safe sunning and tanning. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The SFP number which ranges from as low as 2 to as high as 50 and sometimes higher, is a comparison of the time it takes before the skin will start to react to unprotected sun exposure such as by reddening or peeling.

If for instance, it would take 20 minutes for a reaction to start, wearing a sunblock tan or other product with an SPF factor of 15 enables one to safely stay in the sun for 15 times longer or 5 more hours without getting sun burnt. A greater SPF in the sunblock tan or other product offers more protection but minimally so, about 2 to 5 percent more.

This means that a sunblock tan or other sun protection product that has a SPF higher than 15, like 30 for instance, does not add anything more than a little added protection. Keep in mind that a greater SPF gives protection for a little longer but it does not offer stronger protection. SPF is the measure of UVB protection that is used universally but there are no set standards when it comes to UVA.

Another commonly misunderstood point is the difference between sunscreen, sun block and sunblock tan. Sunscreen chemically absorbs UV rays while sun block physically deflects them. Sunscreen products block UVB effectively, but provide less UVA protection although improved formulas are being made to enhance protection. Sun blocks are also being improved to offer substantial protection against both UVA and UVB.

There is also the sunblock tan. This products works to tan the skin while offering adequate protection. Sunblock tan combines a tanning agent, cream or spray with a sunblock. One can choose from various shades which are different depending on the brands. A sunblock tan is in fact a healthier way to getting tanned as damage that would have been done with direct exposure to the sun.

A sunblock tan in a tanning booth or bed. Some are meant specifically to be used to tan indoors. These have the right SPF for sun sensitive skin. There are those meant to tan outdoors and they should not be mixed with those to be used indoors., An indoor sunblock tan also keeps skin moisturized so it tans faster and without drying out.

As you seek to get that golden glow, pay special attention to areas that are more susceptible to burning. These are the cheeks and nose and stronger SPF or sunblock tan with higher SPF should be used on these areas. Used correctly, sunblock tan is a safe way to quickly get that glow and safely so.
